ARLX024 SSTV at W1AW
A complete, modern slow scan television system has been donated to
W1AW.
The system, designed by John Langner, WB2OSZ, includes his PASOKON
TV software, a ''frame grabber,'' a 486 color computer, and a charge
coupled device (CCD) camera. His system is described in the cover
story in January 1993 QST.
The system, valued at some 2000 dollars, was donated by Norm
Creller, W8MPM, who said ''I owe my Morse code skills to W1AW code
practice and still monitor bulletins from the station. I wanted to
do something in return.'' Creller is a manager at Chrysler Motors in
Toledo, Ohio.
The new SSTV equipment is set up for use by visitors to W1AW. They
will be able to observe SSTV on the HF bands as well as to send
pictures.
